| Introduction | Michael Peres joined the teaching faculty of the Rochester Institute of Technology School of Photographic Arts & Sciences in 1986. He is a professor of biomedical photography and teaches photomicrography, biomedical photography and other related applications of photography in science. He served as the chair of the biomedical photographic communications department from 1989 until June 2010 when he was appointed as associate administrative chair of the School. Peres has enjoyed a varied photographic career which began in 1973. He has been actively publishing most of his career and recently served as the editor in chief of the Focal Encyclopedia of Photography – 4th Edition published in 2007. Some of his professional activities include being the former chair of the Lennart Nilsson Award nominating committee located in Stockholm Sweden, serving as one of the coordinators of the R•I•T Images from Science project as well as the RIT Big Shot project. Michael holds a masters degree in instructional technology and bachelors degrees in biology and biomedical photographic communications. He is also a registered biological photographer. |
