| Introduction | Do you like plot twists? I think they are the antidote to 'same old, same old.' The sudden demise of the Spanish aristocrat in Lady Mary's bedchamber hooked me on Downton Abbey; who could have predicted such a scene? It was such a fresh departure from the formulaic fare we're used to viewing on network television. Life can be like that--full of plot twists: just when everything seems to be dull and routine, something reaches out and changes the script. But it's only useful if you can learn something from it, by exercising that examination of life that makes it worth living. I'd like to do that here. Call it navel-gazing if you wish; come along with me to inspect those fuzzy balls of lint if you dare! |
