| Introduction | Dionne Bunsha is a writer with Frontline, one of India’s most respected newsmagazines. Her book, Scarred: Experiments with Violence in Gujarat (Penguin India, 2006) is a vivid narrative of the aftermath of the communal violence in Gujarat 2002. She has been given several journalism awards for her reportage in Frontline on human rights and on environmental issues. Dionne started her career as a reporter for The Times of India, Mumbai in 1995. She has written extensively on a diverse range of human rights and social justice issues – abuses in juvenile homes, the farm crisis and farmers suicides in Vidarbha, environmental issues like industrial pollution, wildlife conservation in the Gir forest, forced evictions, urban plnanning problems in Mumbai, public health, education and politics. She lives in Mumbai. |
