| Introduction | I've worked extensively in Europe, the US and South America as bird guide, environmental educator and research assistant. In Venezuela, Peru and the Dominican Republic as instructor in ethnobiology and tropical ornithology with Cornell; filling in as science journalist (in France - and in French); teaching urban ecology with the City University of New York, mostly to minority students, in Brooklyn and Queens, and now again in Paris, France. I've moonlit as deep wilderness guide, expedition outfitter, songwriter, rock singer and musician, author, animal sound recordist, TV anchor in Botswana, dilettante wildlife photographer, and social activist - living and working with the Ye’kuana tribe in Venezuela between 1997 and 2006; not to mention my 4 year binge as PR dude for a wealthy white shoe lawyer in Manhattan (don't ask) and more recently, my time as an organic food grower. Many Hats maketh the life-long learner. 2 memoris stand out: I took my adopted son to the Arctic Ocean, to the Inuvialuit town of Tuktoyaktuk, and gave him a pagan "baptism" in the Beaufort sea. Chalked it up as "research". I met Anne Lisbet from Norway, and fell in love with her, her country and its people. |
