About me

Industry Education
Location Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Introduction I write and speak about slavery and race, including their relevance today and such political topics as apologies and reparations for slavery. Online, I do this at The Living Consequences.

I'm a direct descendant of the nation's leading slave-trader, Senator James DeWolf of Rhode Island. I appear in the PBS documentary Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North, and in the companion book Inheriting the Trade: A Northern Family Confronts Its Legacy as the Largest Slave-Trading Dynasty in U.S. History. I was nominated for an Emmy Award for the historical research I contributed to Traces of the Trade, and I currently work with the Tracing Center on Histories and Legacies of Slavery in Cambridge, Mass.
