| Introduction | I graduated with my MPH in the Global Health and Leadership Track at USC in 2007. In 2004, I was fortunate enough to win the TRDRP Cornelius Hopper Diversity Award, to develop ideas that would lead to the creation of a culturally tailored tobacco prevention program for Chicano/Latino youth. I have had the privelege to work on several research projects involving the Chicano/Latino community. I have worked on Project RED, a study that addresses the effects of acculturation on tobacco and other drug use. I also worked on a project studying cultural risk and protective factors that affect the decision to use commercial tobacco use among American Indian adolescents. Currently, I'm working on a national diabetes prevention project with Middle school students. My interest is in learning more about indigenous traditional medicine and way of life, and how to incorporate this knowledge into the public health field. I also love to travel internationally to pursue interests in the health of underserved populations. |
