Introduction I am a life-long lover of children’s literature. Growing up in a small town in India and attending an international school deeply influenced my desire to work in the field of cross-cultural understanding and implement the Baha’i principal of the oneness of humanity. I have a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the School for International Training in VT. I have worked as a software technical consultant, an ESL teacher, book reviewer and editor, among other jobs. But my favorites have been working in libraries and bookstores. I am a founding member of the Spirit of Children, which offers an annual artist retreat and workshop now in it’s twentieth year. I offer workshops on picture books and children’s literature, most often focusing on diversity in children’s literature, and inspiring children and families into service and social action. I currently run a special reading program connected to the annual Caldecott medal for illustration in grades Kinder-3 at my son’s school, as well as volunteering and working in the school’s libraries. I lives with my husband and two children in Los Angeles.
