About me

LocationNew Paltz, NY, United States
IntroductionTen years ago, Hector Tejada decided to start farming on rented land. It was a new life, not just on the farm; Hector immigrated to the U.S. from Dominican Republic only a few years earlier. Since then, Hector has farmed a few places around the Northeast, eventually ending up in New Paltz, N.Y., 82 miles from the N.Y.C. Greenmarkets where he has sold his life's work each week for the past decade. Cultivating land that is not his own is a challenge in the long term. Hector continues to farm responsibly grown food and bring attention to agricultural issues of today's world. Conuco Farm brings forth a bountiful variety of heirloom vegetables and herbs to be sold in the GrowNYC Greenmarket system year round and through the Bedstuy Farmshare CSA in Brooklyn seasonally.
