IntroductionOnly updating to add current photos every now and then! I started this blog to keep in contact with relatives and friends. Please make comments and email me! I was raised to age 12 in Alaska's Interior along the Yukon River. I left then to enter a public high school in Lake Placid, NY and live with my Uncle Mike. A year later, my mom joined me so I could obtain a more challenging education. My sister Katrina attends school in Ruby in a multi-grade class. So do my nephews. My dad is a Koyukon Athabascan Indian and my mom is Caucasian. We have a subsistence lifestyle and my dad makes traditional Native crafts like fish wheels and dog team sleds. He is nationally recognized Master Native Snowshoe Craftsman (see Albertsnowshoes Blog).I like to snowshoe, run, draw with pencil, explore the woods and computer games and meet all kinds of new people.
InterestsCreated a blog for and by Native American youth called GenIzine.blogspot.com and will get going in summer 2015 to have other Native youth contribute photos, stories, drawings depicting the life ways of a 21st Century native youth. My own interests are drawing, snowshoeing, nature, building things, playing outdoors, going to our camp upriver. And now, soccer and learning how to speak like a New Yawker.
Favorite movies"I am Legend" because I like Will Smith."The Last Samuri" "Into the West" series. "Pow Wow Highway" Most movies about real Native Americans, modern and traditional. I like electronic games a bit too much like any kid and have scaled down.
Favorite musicLoading my ipod now so open to ideas, otherwise my mom will suggest too much '60s music!
Favorite booksGames of Thrones which I read on my Kindle.I just read Max and the Gatekeeper by James Todd Cochrane. It is fantastic sci-fi with magic and technology. World War II history books. Cracker-about a Viet Nam service dog. I seem to like any history shows and books.
