Gender Female
Industry Non-Profit
Occupation Eternal student
Location San Diego, CA, United States
Introduction I sail boats and read a lot of books, and anything else I can get my hands on. Occasionally I cook and eat good food. I am the eternal student; the day I stop learning or can no longer read will be the day I die. But for the most part, I'm a full-time gimp.

Favorite Books I am the worlds largest book dork! I will read everything and anything, and I do. My worst fears in life are to either not be able to read or run out of books to read. I feel like crying when I have finished a good book, but I love the hunt for new books to read. I will read everything and anything, and I do. A few recent favorites: In Defense of Food (Michael Pollan), The United State of Arugula by David Kamp and Moral Disorder by Margaret Atwood. Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin is one of my favorites, amazing, amazing, amazing. I highly recommend everyone read it. The Omnivore's Dilemma also by Michael Pollan is an absolute MUST READ along with Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver (and Kingsolver fiction as well)! Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, The Robber's Bride also by Margaret Atwood, another favorite. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes and Edgar Allan Poe. Love Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting! Franz Kafka's Letters to Milena, Paulo Coehlo's The Alchemist, any Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid's Tale being my favorite), Albert Camus (The Stranger), Richard Wright (Black Boy), any Barbara Kingsolver book, Toni Morisson (Sula and more), the Invisible Man by Ralph Ellis, the Peter Pan Bag, The Jungle and Oil! (Upton Sinclair), and Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. Erik Larkson and The Devil in the White City, great book as is Thunderstruck. Also Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. Pablo Neruda. My New York Library science desk reference is something I could not live without along with my gigantic Webster's Dictionary (does that count?) which I attempt to keep near me at all times! Of course my handy copy of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights has also served me well. Also God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens and the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I also really like Pema Chodron, particularly Awakening Loving-Kindness.
