| Introduction | A teacher turned accountant, what I’ve always really wanted to do was to write. I still have my first full-length teen novel, written in almost indecipherable handwriting at about age 14. My first novella was published in 2009, under the pen name Gillian Villiers, and a further 3 have followed. In 2014 I was take on by Accent Press and in 2015 they published my two full-length women's contemporary fiction novels under the penname Gilly Stewart. And just to complicate matters further, I have begun to publish a trilogy of YA ronance/mysteries under the name Gill-Marie Stewart. I live in the beautiful village of Newtonmore in the Scottish Highlands. When not writing or walking our four dogs (four dogs is too many dogs!) I am trying to learn Gaelic, improve my knitting skills and finally master crocheting. |
| Interests | Writing (obviously), reading, walking, cooking and above all family. |
| Favorite movies | Not a great fan of films or tv but have a soft spot for musicals such as Grease and Mamma Mia. Pitch Perfect is my new favourite! |
| Favorite music | Daniel Meade, Adele, Paolo Nutini, Elvis Costello, Fife Dangerfield, Janis Ian, KT Turnstall, Steve Earle, Joni Mitchell |
| Favorite books | where to start? I’ll list authors rather than specific books. My current YA favourites are Rainbow Rowell, Patrick Ness and Laini Taylor. For comfort reading and nostalgia anything by Georgette Heyer, Eleanor M Brent-Dyer, Elsie J Oxenham or D E Stevenson. At other times Jennifer Crusie, Katie Fforde, Trisha Ashley, Rachel Gibson for a light read or Alexandra Raife, Magda Sweetland, A S Byatt for something a little more serious. I also have a soft spot for cosy crime (Pat McIntosh, Lesley Cookman) and fantasy (Kate Elliot, Patrick Rothfuss). |
The squish of mud between your toes; how would you live your life as a frog?
By imagining I was someone else. I do that alot.
