| Introduction | As a 17-year old student, I have no experience with voting or supporting campaigns or candidates. I also am not aligned with any political party or ideologies. I hope to use this class as an opportunity to look at different political opinions from an objective viewpoint. From here I can make informed decisions about who I want representing me, and which political ideas have my support. I have no strong initial views as politics and partisanship has been discussed little in my household, but I suspect that local influences have given me a conservative perspective on politics. I took the civics quiz and got a 93.94%, or 31 of 33. If the statistics collected by the study is accurate, then it is of great concern to me that many politicians cannot score above the curve on questions in their area of expertise. If I was able to vote, it would be important to me that my representative is knowledgeable about our government systems and is well informed about American history. |
