| Introduction | Cindy Shortt has over 18 years of experience as a high school counselor, middle school counselor, adjunct professor, and clinical therapist interacting with youth and families in urban and suburban areas in California and Connecticut. Early in her counseling career, Cindy worked as a school counselor in southern California, but now lives in Easton, Connecticut where she runs a private practice in counseling. As a therapist, she is able to integrate her knowledge of education and mental health issues to help adolescents and families problem-solve, overcome personal issues, and work toward positive home and school experiences. She specializes in tweens and adolescents. As a professor for the University of California Riverside, she taught post-graduate courses in Educational Therapy, which focused on strategies for helping students with attentional, motivational, and behavioral difficulties. She’s led parent workshops and seminars on parenting styles, adolescent behavior, personality types, developmental assets, growth mindset and effective listening and communication skills. |
