About me

Introduction I was born and raised in Portland and attended Portland Public Schools from kindergarten through high school. I studied music education to become an elementary music teacher before travelling to Australia where I stayed for twenty years. I graduated from the University of Sydney with a degree in elementary education and a minor in dramatic arts. In 1998 I returned to Portland, got my license to teach in Oregon and started my first year with PPS in 1999. I have been at James John Elementary ever since. I have taught kindergarten, third, fourth and fifth grades. I have always loved teaching and working with children. I love the opportunities it brings to explore how we all learn, think, grow and change!
Interests Running, cycling, hiking, gardening, cooking, reading, history, geology and exploring old Portland.
Favorite Music There isn't a style of music I don't like. If it's live, it's better. I will have to say my number one band are The Beatles, especially John Lennon.
Favorite Books Again, too many to list and I read an awful lot of children's books. But I think The Color Purple and Omnivores Dilemma are two on my top ten list.
