Introduction	We are a group of Western Washington University students studying communication sciences and disorders. This summer we will be engaging in a service learning project in Guatemala in order deepen our understanding of multicultural issues, and specifically as they apply to the field of speech-language pathology. We will be reading several books, including "Half the Sky" and "I, Rigoberta Menchu" and discussing how we can take action on the issues that are raised. While in Guatemala we will be volunteering with The God's Child Project (Asociacion Nuestros Ahijados) to build 3 houses in addition to working the food distribution center. We will also be taking language immersion classes for several hours each day. We will be departing for Guatemala June 29th, 2013!
