| Introduction | Sharon M. Meagher, Ph.D., is Professor of Philosophy and Director of Women’s Studies at The University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. She also has served as a director of an applied policy institute in Washington, DC, and as the founding president of an urban community development organization in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Meagher also served as a founding member of the American Philosophical Association’s Committee on Public Philosophy and currently serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. She has published on literature and ethics, community development, feminist theory, and a range of urban issues. She co-edited Women and Children First: Feminism, Rhetoric, and Public Policy (State University of New York Press, 2005)) and just completed a second anthology Philosophy and the City (forthcoming SUNY Press, 2007). She is working on a monograph that offers a philosophical analysis of the history of philosophy and its relationship to the city and public life. |
