| Introduction | I’m a staunch moderate. In these turbulent times we need to foster an attitude of constructive patriotism, with both sides working together for the common good. I’m a fiscal conservative. I believe in a balanced budget, smaller government, and increased accountability in both public and private organizations. I’m normally an Independent who believes in electing the most competent leader regardless of party affiliation. However, intense negative advertising from Republicans has really turned me off, especially since it’s targeted not at the far left, but the moderate left, strictly for partisan reasons. As of now I would call myself a Christian Democrat. Jesus preached humility, moderation, and acceptance for those who are different from ourselves. When Republicans vote together as a block I can’t help thinking they’re a bunch of sheep all doing what they’re told. Democrats vote far more independently because, I believe, they vote their conscience. At least more than the Republicans. We need leaders with that kind of integrity. |
