About me

IntroductionJohn Trotter is an artist who tells stories through a variety of media including pen & ink, watercolor, oils, and any others that grab his attention. Inspired at the age of 4 by superheroes, John spent countless hours in his room drawing. Nearly four decades and a bachelor’s of fine art degree later, his craft and sensibilities have expanded to include more traditional subjects such as figurative, landscape, and wildlife, but he still enjoys drawing Batman occasionally. He has spent the last several years doing commission and freelance work as well as projects for Atlanta non-profit organizations. His non-profit work includes everything from children’s coloring pages to murals featuring whales, Mongolian yurts, and sabre-tooth cats (not in the same mural…that would be weird.). His illustration work will soon be featured in the children’s book “Kudzu Looks Like Green Elephants” written by Mark Hodges. John blogs about his processes, inspirations, and many times…annoyances…here. You can also find him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at Paintmonkey Studios.
