| Introduction | Encouraged by playwright and long-lost cousin Lecram I started this blog in April 2005 when I was self-employed, didn't answer to anyone and welcomed any displacement activity! It was before the days of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc and as well as being an outlet for my writing and teaching me about the mysteries of hyperlinks and html it was also an interesting way to 'meet' new people who you were unlikely to ever have to engage with in the real world. None of my friends (bar dear Blithers) had any interest in blogging at that time, or knew what a 'web log' was. What it didn't teach me was the value of 'privacy settings'...something I'm au fait with now but not when I started this blog, nor when I stopped contributing regularly in 2007 - abandoning it for the quick fix of Facebook when I became a wage slave again. Re-visiting my blogs after all these years has made me realise that a little more reticence may have been advisable! |
