| Introduction | Kathryn Pasternak’s professional experience includes over 15 years of filmmaking for National Geographic, and over 10 years freelance filmmaking in NYC, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. Pasternak has received some of the most prestigious international awards, including two National Emmy Awards and two Emmy nominations. Her special focus is wildlife filmmaking on location in America, Africa, and Asia. This genre requires specialized production skills and a keen knowledge of the natural and biological sciences, and production ethics. Pasternak is now an independent filmmaker and executive producer; she continues to make programs for major broadcasters, including National Geographic, Animal Planet, WNET/Nature, and Smithsonian Networks. Pasternak brings to her teaching on the college level diverse experience, ranging from formative work in diverse facets of the film business, including Hollywood international co-productions, independent documentaries, low budget features, and television commercials to recent collaborations on wildlife films with filmmakers around the world. |
