| Introduction | Discussion is for learning. He who is unwilling to learn with meekness is unworthy to teach with authority. God is the judge of all Truth; we are not the judges of God. Take heed the words of St. Paul to Timothy, whom he charged to defend the faith: "Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth.” And again: "If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of corrupt mind" So let us gather together around God's holy scriptures, not in envy but in love. For God is love! |
