| Introduction | Welcome to Simply Southern Sundays. I am a Great Lakes area transplant to north Florida. For a year and a half I posted Friday Fun Florida Facts on Facebook, but now I feel I've been here long enough to discuss some of the cultural differences I've experienced by moving to the South. Weather, food, slang and accent, politics, flowers and trees, birds and bugs, the place of religion in daily life, beaches and coastal life, history - you name it, it's different. Each Sunday I'll pick a topic and have a chat and share my thoughts. Please feel free to comment, suggest a topic, or correct misinformation. I'm not an expert and my observations are just a slice of a moment in a particular place, or with a particular person or event and may not be an accurate reflection. |
