| Introduction | I am a classroom teacher & librarian with 18 years of experience working in Kenosha. I have taught in Chicago Public Schools, North Shore Country Day School, a K-8 charter school and am currently working at a K-5 school with an urban poor population. Since I was in high school, I have dreamed of starting a school that truly provided what students need to be happy and passionate about learning. After almost two decades of developing my “flow” I am now in partnership with a team of women (all named Jennifer) who hope to create a charter school for Middle School students. We will submit an initial planning grant to the KUSD school board in January of 2013. If all goes well, the school would start in the fall of 2014. I created this blog in order to share the process with interested individuals who might want to partner with me as an educator, community member, or parent. I am seeking input, questions, challenges, and resources because my thoughts are just the beginning…the school will be a reflection of many voices, many life experiences, many hard-won understandings. Looking forward to meeting and planning with you for the sake of our children. |
