| Introduction | I was a weird kid - for fun, I used to draw graphs and work out the equations under them (don't ask me to do that now, though!) so, after 40+ years in IT and as I was into numbers, the logical choice for retraining was a career which involved them.After qualifying with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), and a few years working for an accountant to gain some real-world experience, I set up my own practice, authorised and monitored by the ICB, which meant we had compliance and money laundering supervision, we were GDPR registered and DBS checked and could act for companies, partnerships, sole traders and individuals as your agent for the dreaded HMRC. At least, that was until I hung up my abacus and retired. |
