Introduction	These descriptions of events are mostly as I recall them from growing up in Berkeley in the 1950's and 60's. The illustrations are a part of an autobiographical picture book I have worked on for the last several years. The memoir as a whole also contains sections that are fictional as I have taken liberties to express my experiences and observations in a more metaphorical manner. Where "real life" leaves off and imagination begins is anyone's guess.
