About me

Introduction Shannon Mower was raised in a family of sewers and quilters and was taught the art of hand-quilting as soon as she could hold a needle. Shannon has many fond childhood memories of watching TV under the "quilt tent" created by the family's traditional bee-style quilting frame and was always in awe watching those stitches migrate across the fabric. As time wore on, Shannon graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Biology and worked briefly as a DNA analyst. Once her children were born, Shannon followed her heart to become a stay-at-home mom for her little ones. Once again, quilting took over as she wanted to create "portable hugs" for her children, and as each quilt was for someone special, it had to have a special design. Modern Tradition Quilts, her machine quilting and design company began in 2010, and she loves combining new colors and techniques to create something special.
