| Introduction | I created this blog to use as a place to journal my love of country living,family events and my thoughts about daily life. I have been married almost 50 years to the guy that moved into our school district in 2nd grade. When I married that farm boy, I learned all about farm life. I was a city girl, but eagerly learned how to do field work, barn chores and raise a vegetable garden. I loved everything about farm life and believe we gave our children a most memorable childhood. Today, our family is grown and we live on an acreage in northeast Iowa surrounded by hayfields and corn fields. My day begins in our sunroom stitching and admiring my gardens. My favorite things are cross stitch, quilting, and embroidery. As I’m creating, I hope I’m honoring those long-ago farm wives that struggled to bring warmth and love to their families with none of the conveniences we have today. My inspirations have been my Aunt Marie who taught me embroidery when I was seven years old, and Aunt Gertrude who could make a shirt for my little brother without a pattern, and my mother, who was the hardest working woman I knew. |
