Introduction I am a curious person, addicted to reading, but mostly reading to gather more information. I used to read novels, devour them, but, lately, I just devour articles on feminism, education, rhetoric, anything about how our brains work, baking, and living a simpler life. I live in a life of service in many ways, but I do so selfishly. I am devoted to my husband and boys, ages 16 and 3, but they are certainly devoted right back. I have been a writing teacher for about 16 years, and I love it and hate it. I love helping others. I hate it if I can't help others. I have a PhD in Rhetoric. I love rhetoric. Rhetoric helped me become a better thinker. I have seen it help others become better thinkers. We need better thinkers! What else? I am married to the most amazing person I have ever met. He gets me. No one else is the whole history of the whole world ever got me. I am going to hang onto him—tightly.
Interests rhetoric, writing, baking, being a wife and mom, living more like Thoreau, issues in education, literacy, organic gardening, children's books, ethics, feminism, technology
Favorite Movies O Brother Where Art Thou?, Life of Pi, this one seems hard, as I have a hard time finding a good movie lately, I hate action and anything that appeals to 13 year olds, so I am out of luck in the movie department
Favorite Music Coldplay, the Killers, The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons (I swear I liked them before everybody else), U2 (of course, right?), anything of the country/rock/folk genre (music that sounds like Faulkner to me)
Favorite Books anything Cormac McCarthy, anything Frank McCourt, almost anything about rhetoric, The Rhetorical Tradition is probably a lot like my Bible
