| Introduction | The idea of a child so in love with reading that they will do it by torchlight after parents declare 'lights out' tickles me. It tickles me because there are so many of us that can identify with this love of reading. I figured since I read so damn many books I may as well tell you what I think of them. Remember: this is just my opinion. You might love a book to bits while I would prefer to tear it into shreds and use it in the bottom of a rat cage. That's ok. The disagreement is half of what makes reading fun. I should probably mention that it was doing a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing that gave me the tools to review books. No, it doesn't make me qualified. But thanks to the amazing teachers at Victoria University I can at least talk about the hero's journey while having some small sense of what I'm actually on about. Finally, I will leave you with a quote that I think sums up my attitude to reading. “If you go home with somebody, and they don't have books, don't fuck 'em!” ― John Waters |
