| Introduction | I've been a CNA for 2 years and currently work in an assisted living facility as an aide/med tech. I love my job and the people I take care of. I know the term "old folks" is a little politically incorrect but I use it out of love. my residents have taught me so much about life, strength, and hope that I respect their wisdom more than I can say. I try to find the humor in the day-to-day, especially in a place that can be so disheartening. I can't help but chuckle at some of the things residents tell me, they say the darndest things!! Often an off-hand comment from a patient will open up my mind to another aspect of caring or aging that I've never thought of. This blog will help me put words to the issues one faces as a caregiver and hopefully show others how much life is in a place where people are dying. |
