| Introduction | Going into my second year of blogging, I hope I have brought some insight into the perplexing issues that confront all of us. At Inland Echoes, I strive to give commentary that will affirm some readers and challenge others. Graduating from tiny Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California, earning a masters in history from the much larger Cal State Fullerton, and having survived twenty-five years in public education, I believe I have a unique view of our world. My newest blog, Growing Up Shea, will be more of a literary effort. From my first Mets game in 1963 at the Polo Grounds until I left New York for the U.S. Navy in 1974, my life was consumed with the new darlings of baseball and their then brand new home, Shea Stadium. Here are some of those memories of a childhood spent in the noisy confines of the soon to be torn down ballpark. |
