| Introduction | I was once a rebellious, straying sheep who had intentionally, intellectually, and systematically rejected everything about God. Eventually I became exactly the man my decisions created - I was a lonely drunk whose friends had moved on, often at the request of their wives, and without any hope for happiness in my life.
Then, in a moment of despair, I challenged God with a terrible ultimatum: I would attend church – nothing else – for 12 straight Sundays, and if God could completely overhaul my life in that short time without me taking ANY other action to improve myself, I would believe in Him again, and if not it was proof He didn't exist and I was done with Him forever. Exactly 40 days later, a woman at work marched up to me, effectively told me she was tired of waiting for me to figure out my life, and ordered me to go on a date with her … and 30 years later we are married with two amazing adult kids, I have a radically different life, surrounded by love, and I have learned and now proclaim that every blessing comes from my dad in heaven – Yahweh-Yireh – The Lord Provides! |
