| Introduction | Subhranil Sarkar is regarded as one of the most prominent Sitar-players of his generation. He belongs to the Etawah Gharana. He was initiated into music at the age of 6 by Sri Bimal Chatterjee of Etawah Gharana. From 2000 onwards he has been a disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Over a period of two decades, Subhranil has established himself as one of the most noted young torchbearers of his Gharana and one of the foremost disciples of Ustadji. Subhranil acquired his Masters degree in Music from the Rabindra Bharati University being the first-class first gold medalist of his year. Subhranil Sarkar has performed in numerous concerts and festivals in India, Canada, U.S.A., U.K., Europe, Mexico and South-East Asia. He started performing at the All India Radio from the age of 9. One of the biggest highlights in Subhranil’s life is to have accompanied the great Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan on the sitar in concerts. |
