| Introduction | Dance is my witchcraft, the key to my enchanted stew, my magic mirror that I pirated from Snow White. From the beginning, the process of interlacing movement and hints of everyday gestures with text and music has struck me as magical. And over the years the magic has had its way with me, transforming me into a strong, outspoken artist. Dance pushes me to explore my world, my boundaries, and therefore myself. It has been my most amenable vehicle for translating inner vision to outer reality. It turns my magical story into a tangible reality for the audience. I believe in dance’s potential to exercise our perceptions, giving us the skills to experience life outside the theater more fully. And as it is my goal to engage the inner child of my audience, I hope the viewers and my dancers enter the world a little less seriously, and with a little more hop in their step. |
