About me

Location Waynesville, NC, United States
Introduction I am a third generation Methodist pastor having a father and grandfather who served in the South Georgia Conference. I am a second career pastor having recieved degrees from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, Western Carolina University, and finished the Course of Study at Candler School of Theology, Emory University. After a thirty-one year career in the public school system as teacher and administrator, I answered the call to pastoral ministry. I have served four different churches in the past ten years in Western North Carolina and have just been appointed to Long’s Chapel UMC as an Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and Connection. I live at Lake Junaluska, NC, with my wife, Debbie of twenty-one years, and Leo, the female cat and Marley, a rescued-from-the animal shelter dog. Debbie and I have two children, Michael and Leah. We have three grandchildren, Sawyer, Lily Scout, and John Howard who is known as “Huck.” My mother and Debbie’s mother both live in nearby Waynesville, NC.
