| Introduction | Wallace Kaufman's latest book is a limited edition memoir illustrated by his photos. Earlier books include a sci-fi novel co-authored with leading astrobiologist David Deamer, a memoir Coming Out of the Woods (Perseus Publishing), a history of environmental thinking--No Turning Back, and The Beaches Are Moving, co-authored with coastal geologist Orrin Pilkey. Forthcoming is the 3rd edition of Invasive Plants (Stackpole) written with his daughter Dr. Sylvan Ramsay Kaufman. In the past Kaufman has conducted extensive surveys of new entrepreneurs in the former Soviet Bloc, advised small businesses in Siberia and Kazakhstan, and served as resident adviser to the government of Kazakhstan for housing and land reform. Kaufman lives on the margin of a coastal forest and a deep water slough. He continues to write and to provide mediation services. |
