IntroductionMontreal -- Mrs. Arsine Attarian, chairperson of the Montreal AGBU Cultural committee was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gold Medal by the Canadian government in December of 2002. The QE II Jubilee Medal is awarded to outstanding Canadians who, through their volunteer work have contributed to the improvement of the lives of their fellow citizens. Mrs. Attarian, a member of the AGBU since 1953, has been working tirelessly for over 45 years in the cultural and literary fields, along with women's issues, human rights, and volunteer organizations and has served her fellow citizens in three countries: Lebanon, Armenia and Canada. Mrs. Attarian is also the vice-president of the Canadian Armenian Women's Association, and has helped to organize the first ever Canadian Armenian Film Festival. She is a member of the advisory board of the Aram Khatchadourian Music Hall of the Society of Armenians of Istanbul in Montreal and has participated in several UN NGO conferences in New York.
