| Introduction | Art is, like life, an evolution. My paintings change as I change as a human being. It’s difficult to write an artist statement because as soon as it’s posted it will be outdated. But for now, this is a bit about me: After sixteen years in the elementary classroom I shifted gears and began my career as an artist. Although my primary medium is oil painting, I use photography extensively and enjoy pottery as well. I grew up on a farm near Delta, Utah where I learned to love and appreciate a small town way of life. My early paintings are very representative of my roots. Currently my paintings are primarily multi-figured symbolic pieces. My work deals with emotions common to the masses, but rarely acknowledged. I believe that although the viewer may not be consciously aware of these emotions, they will recognize and connect with them through my artwork. |
