| Introduction | As a native son of Detroit and graduate of Cass Technical High School, I find the inspiration for my art in my everyday life, drawing richly from my experiences in public education, the performing arts, and as a citizen of an urban and ever-diversifying community. Slam Poetry, as energetic as it is dynamic, was my first literary calling. Since then, I have branched to explore the essay and short fiction as forms of expression.
