| Introduction | My adventures began January 31st of my junior spring at Williams College. On this day I left the United States to study for a term in Dakar, Senegal. Upon graduating in the spring of 2011, I will major in economics with a concentration in environmental studies. But I traveled to Senegal to study a different subject, in a different language, in a different culture. In my final month in Dakar, through the perspective of the young single woman, I researched Senegalese marriage and the influence of popular culture, religious and family traditions. This experience has provided me with a glimpse of the many ways of living, outside of this "purple bubble" called Williamstown, MA. Little by little, I hope to pick away at this massive expanse of awaiting opportunities. |
