| Introduction | I am 43 years old and have decided to take action to stop the decline in the quality of my life. I am obese and have quite a few health issues related to my weight. I've made the decision to have Gastric Bypass Surgery. I have started this blog to share my experience and hopefully inspire others to choose to be liberated from the prison of an obese body. I am a Graphic Artist and Professional Coach and Consultant. I am married to a wonderful and supportive man. I grew up in New York City and now live in the Midwest. |
| Interests | Learning about people, getting to know myself better, art and design and creativity in all its wonderous forms - from coloring and baking Shrinky-Dinks to sculpting. |
| Favorite movies | Too numerous to mention - I'm a movie-lover, from older movies like "The Thin Man" to semi-cheesy B-movies like "The Mummy" with Brendan Fraser, to obvious classics like "Jaws, "Star Wars", and "Chicago". A movie has to be a real stinker for me not to like it. |
| Favorite music | Again, very eclectic taste - I love lots of different kinds of music. I love classic soul, R&B, classic disco (what can I say, it's cheesy but it definitly brings a smile to my face. And I dare anyone to be able to sit still while listening to "It's Raining Men" or "I Love the Nightlife". |
| Favorite books | Wow, I see a pattern - I love lots of things. I really am discerning - not that you'd know it by my broad taste. Ah, well, c'est la vie... I love to read - lots of different thing, fiction, non-fiction, bopgraphies, etc. Some of my favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, Anne LaMott, Caleb Carr, Kathy Reichs, Sue Grafton and so many more. I love thriller, suspense, mystery, historical fiction and non-fiction about the sea and New York in the 1800s. One of my favorite books is called "In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex" by Nathaniel Philbrick. He is a wonderful author and this is the true story that influenced Herman Melville's "Moby Dick". Great stuff!! |
