| Introduction | Whitethorn Woodcraft is a family run business specialising in a variety of skills, including bespoke furniture, timber frame structures and traditional woodland crafts. Our whole ethos is about working with the natural world as opposed to exploiting it. We do this by utilising natural sustainable materials found in nature and the waste materials so increasingly evident in our world today. We take working with the natural world all the way through the design and build process, allowing the materials to dictate form rather that imposing our will upon the materials. No fixed machinery is used and all work is carried out by hand. Wherever possible we aim to bring forth the natural beauty and character of the wood used, so subsequent finishes are kept to a minimum. Whether the design is classic or contemporary, the methods we use are of a traditional and time proven style. Our home is on Dartmoor and we draw much of our inspiration from the magnificent landscape that surrounds us. We are happy to work from any brief or idea you may have, or we can offer advice and consultation should you require it. |
