About me

Introduction	A nature essayist and travel writer with fiction credits, I seek the lyrical on the page and in daily life. After working in the small newspaper business, I branched into marketing the arts (books, films, events), before switching to public health communications, then environmental communications and personal journalism. My writing focus stems, in part, out of living part of each year in or near national parks or public land. I have been a communications consultant on a Rocky Mountain watershed campaign for over two years. Grants and Awards include four DC Commission on the Arts/NEA grants, and a residency at the Blue Mountain Writers and Artists Center. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte. My short stories have appeared in The Gettysburg Review, Fodderwing, The Sun Runner Magazine and in two anthologies, including, Electric Grace: Still More Fiction of Washington Area Women. Over a dozen of my nature essays have aired on KNPR and on other radio networks. My print pieces have run in The LA Times, The Washington Post, Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Las Vegas Review Journal.
