| Introduction | I have never felt normal. For many years I thought I was a freak, and no doctor, therapist, healer, religion, or program made it any better. After seeing a presentation on Autism, watching The Social Network, and doing some research, I came to believe I had Aspergers Syndrome. I scheduled an appointment with a specialist who diagnosed me within thirty minutes of our appointment. So for 25 years, I went without a diagnosis, I simply thought I was a freak, unusual, and unlovable. I wish I was diagnosed much sooner in life. All of this goes to show, I am very good at faking normalcy. I pretended to be NT for 25 years, and everyone but the specialist believed me. Upon my diagnosis, I realized I am on the wrong planet. I must have been a sleeper spy all along, behaving like a human. |
