| Introduction | I'm training to participate in an endurance event: The Nation's Triathlon on September 11th, 2011 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my Dear Grandfather who battled Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are real heroes. We lost my Maternal Grandfather in October, 1998; he was a driving force in making me the man I am today. A family man, a sage, a teacher and a friend; "Maas Cannon" or Cannonball as friends and family knew him was always larger than life to me... the kind of man I wanted to be. He fought his six year battle with leukemia with unbelievable spirit and with the dignity of a great man. I will always carry him with me in my heart and mind and the day I cross the finish line of the Nations Triathlon will be no different.
