| Introduction | Born and raised in Irvington, N.Y., on the east bank of the Hudson River just south of the Tappan Zee Bridge, I moved South to attend Duke University in Durham, N.C. I remained in the Research Triangle Park area of the Tar Heel State after graduating with a B.A. in history. Spent the next 40 years there working as a sportswriter and later sports editor and metro editor at newspapers through 2018 when I retired to Oak Island in coastal North Carolina between Wilmington, N.C., and Myrtle Beach, S.C. I enjoy writing, research and watching dolphins breaching just outside the surf zone from my front deck. |
