| Introduction | Dr. Cynthia B. Brown is a first generation college graduate. Dr. Brown completed her PhD in Human Services. Her dissertation focused on "Chronic Homelessness From A Paraprofessional Perspective". Additionally, she holds a Master in Social Work, Bachelor of Science in Business & Public Administration & Post-Baccalaureate in Human Resources. In 2015 Dr. Brown formed The WayWesX17 (WWX17) Homeless Project a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The origins of the organization are embedded in her being determined to overcome the grief of the death of her sons in a positive way. Waymond II died from sudden cardiac death at the age of 23. Wesley Pearce died from potter’s syndrome after 23 minutes of life. Instead of dying in the sands of grief she started this organization. WWX17 aspires to be the bridge that connects people to services & resources. Our goal is to address the biopsychosocial-spiritual dynamic of individuals to assist in the successful transition for permanent housing and emotional healing. As a facilitator of relationships between organizations, WWX17 endeavors to foster a network of providers that will fill the gap & initiate services. |
| Interests | Dr. Brown works tirelessly to improve the intersectionality of social justice, advocacy, and human services from a multi-disciplinary approach. |
