| Introduction | I grew up on a peninsula of land in Maine, jetting out into the Atlantic Ocean. My playgrounds were the fields, woods, and shoreland. The smell of the saltwater, the sound of the ocean, gulls, boat traffic, wind blowing, and the clanking bell buoy permeate my soul. My people are original to this land, from "Pre-history"; known by many names, Indian, Cherokee, Clovis, Mi'kmaq, Acadian, Frankish - but not French, Celtic, Basque, Dutch, Norse. As a seasick-prone member of a nautical family, I practice the family trade of lobstering, with my legs firmly on shore in my art workshop. I like bold shapes, bright colors, natural subjects, botanicals, lobsters, mortal moments, watercolor, chalk, acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, collage, digital graphics, ceramics, printing, mixed media, and jewelry. When not creating, I teach home school, build models, and study etymology with my son. |
