| Introduction | Born in a family, deeply immersed in the dramatic arts of the Orissa State, Samir kumar at a young age started singing and acting in theatre parties (jatras) in the footsteps of his father, Prafulla chandra Behera, who was a well known stage artists. He enrolled for Master in Music from Utkal Sangeet Mohavidyalay, Bhubaneswar. Samir was introduced to Odissi Dance by Guru Samanath Pradhan and eventually had the privilege of being trained by Padma Bibhusan Guru kelu Charan Mohapatra.Gurujis son Ratikant Mohapatra also contributed greatly to Samir s excellence as a dancer. |
