| Introduction | I serve on the interdisciplinary faculty at DePaul University, where I teach science and literature. I'm a co-founder of the Black Earth Institute, a progressive think-tank dedicated to re-forging the links between art and spirit, earth and society. An author, I've won the Pushcart Prize and the Friends of Literature award. I've written four books of poetry, including Dancing with Chaos (Salmon Poetry), and Homefront (Word Tech Editions). In nonfiction, I've written two encyclopediae of mythology: The Book of Goddesses and Heroines (Llewelllyn Worldwide) and The Encyclopedia of Celtic Myth and Folklore (Facts on File). My most recent nonfiction book, The Red-Haired Girl from the Bog, explores ecology, myth and folklore in Ireland. I am also the author of The Goddess Path (Llewellyn Worldwide), a book of translations of classic goddess poetry (The Goddess Companion, Llewellyn Worldwide) and a book of goddess stories for girls (Wild Girls, Creatrix Press). |
